The Accademia Europea di Musica in Erba was founded in 1991, with the aim of spreading musical culture on an international level. After a preliminary interview and an audition, the courses are open to students already qualified or qualifying for a music diploma. The lessons have a monthly sequence and access to the higher level is subject to an end-of-year examination. The final examination is a public concert held in front of an examining board. All successful students are presented with a certificate of attendance and an internationally recognized diploma.

Deborah Clark is principal harpist with the Kansas City Symphony.  Her principal teachers include Jeanne and Alice Chalifoux and Eileen Mason.  The department of music offers Bachelors of Music degrees in performance and education.  A Bachelor of Arts with an emphasis in music is also offered.  The music department boasts an excellent endowment which provides scholarships to qualified music students.  Non-majors can also qualify for scholarship assistance. With over 100 music majors, the department of music offers performance opportunities in orchestra, choir and band.  The department owns a 1998 Mahogany Lyon and Healy 85 CG harp.
